What I tattoo
I am Steve Bachman, a tattoo artist in Long Beach, California. I work in opaque black and grey and bright color, designing large scale custom pieces that follow the flow of the body rather than sitting on top of it.
Black and grey realism
Opaque black and grey for deeper blacks, harder contrast and detail that holds up as it settles.
Color realism and surrealism
Saturated color packed properly, with composition planned so the piece reads from across a room.

I do not do fine line work, flash designs or piercings. If that is what you are after, I am not the right artist for the job and I would rather tell you up front.
About
Six months in São Paulo, and everything since
I spent six months tattooing and training in São Paulo, Brazil, which changed how I think about color, contrast and building a design that lasts. Everything I do now starts with your reference material and your anatomy, then becomes one piece rather than a collection of images sitting next to each other.

Simple session pricing
No hourly rates. We work out how many sessions your project needs, then book them. At your consultation I will tell you honestly how many I think it needs.
Half day
$600
4 hours of tattooing.
Full day
$1,200
8 hours of tattooing.
Two full days booked back to back, $100 off each day.

How it works

Get a text from me
I read every enquiry myself. If it is a project I am the right artist for, I will text you a link to book a free consultation.

Come in and design it together
30 minutes at the shop. We talk through the concept, take photos of the placement, and build the foundation of the design.

Book your sessions
We work out how much time the project needs and lock in your dates with a deposit.
